it's due to the attitudes in society and the actual cost of living now plus raising a child... most leave it later so that by the time their wage has increased then they can comfortably afford to bring a child into the world - I know I'll certainly be waiting at least another 10 years before I consider it.

The problems will lie in the future when the ratio of youth supporting the aged (through paying tax to support pensions etc) will become so inbalanced... and with the current taxtion on private schemes... I'm not really looking forward to it.

The only thing I can say is best to do is to begin investing in pensions and savings asap. I already have and I'm 20. Eek.

I just realised you were looking for a website... i'll have a looky.

just wondering to what extent you've done this. are we just taking about putting money away, or an actual pension scheme? i remember my dad talking about this kind of thing pretty seriously just before i went to uni and it always interests me to find out what other "young people" have done on this road.

Mine is with the company I work for...l but you can optionally put more money in - which i think I'll do - and then due to this the company adds more in and so forth... and you can take it away with you if you leave the company. It seems like a pretty good scheme. Money goes into it every month... only just started cause I only just started at the company in June.

Have thought about doing this for a while though.

wasn't there a big hoo-haa last year about pensions, and the fact that when 'we', as in me and you, won't be able to get our pensions when we are older..??

i dont have the mental ability to expand on this notion right now, but i thought that was something in the pipeline..

cool. i've just graduated and taken up a sabbatical position so i'm going to have to start paying back my loans pretty soon. that's about £7000 of debt for me which i'm keen to clear asap, but i'm looking to get started on some kind of pension scheme when i get my first graduate job.
