Anyone else been watching the Cinema Iran nights on channel 4 this week? There has been some great films on, like "the apple" and "20 fingers"

It's fascinating to get an insight into Iranian society and even just to see the landscape and the cultural differences, the films are as good if not better than the best art-house cinema from europe. The ones I saw were leisurely paced, full of detail, really touching stories and acting, infact some of them are true stories and even involve the people the story is based on.
I think it's great that channel 4 is screening these films, although it's a shame they are all on after midnight!

i ignore it

when channel 4 had a bollywood phase (dont ask which one) i did enjoy one of the films (some detective film) but the rest were shite as is my impression of the iran stuff

Can't believe I fuckin missed these. My Dad is Iranian and I get so little chance to actually experience any of the country's culture. I'll have to track em down on DVD.
