Default Computer Question

I have a computer question and could do with help...but I am not good with compters so please answer with very simple instructions please! Thanks!

How do I check to see if I have an open port on my computer????
And how do I stop all these pop-ups???!!!!

If I use internet explorer billions of porn pop ups (specifically Free6) appear and in addition, I have a casino "taskbar" on my taskbar that I can't get rid of.
I ran anti-virus software (which is upto date) and there is no virus.
Everytime I use Ad-aware it puts approximately 100 critical objects into quarintine (not sure what the objects are though!!!)

My brother thought I might have an open port (I have no idea what an open port is!).

I already put a fire wall with high security onto my computer!
And I've been using Mozilla firefox instead of I.E.

I hate computers...they are so complicated!
Any help would be appreciated!!

Try using SpyBot: Search and Destroy. Look in your add/remove programs in control panel, and usually things such as search bars can be removed from there. If not, right-click on your mozilla browser window to see if you have checked that the search bar hasnt been told to run in mozilla

What do you mean by ports? Do you mean PCI slots on the motherboard

Err...no idea.....I just got told open ports!

And I've checked for removing programs from the Add/Remove in control panel but there isn't anything I don't recognise!

And the casino taskbar is in the taskbar in IE not mozilla.......
But anyway....I shall try your suggestions!
