Default Left 4 Dead - Survival

Come on, someone else must be playing this on here.

Anyone managed to get some silver and gold medals?

If you're playing it on PC... Steam are apparently addressing the UK server issues (you'll note that it's near impossible to get a game going unless you host locally).

I played it for about 2 minutes one drunken morning, but the admin on the server had put it on one hit kill which was lame as hell. Haven't been back since.

Left 4 Dead is really really good, but it just doesn't have the lasting power of Team Fortress 2.

When Team Fortress 2 "Vanilla" was first released from the Orange Box it wasn't anywhere near as amazing as it is now. Updates, achievments, patches, new modes (arena etc.) all made TF2 extremely replayable.

But I sort of agree with you in that I reckon Vanilla TF2 > Vanilla L4D.

Time will tell though. There is still lots of potential for Left 4 Dead (like new special infected etc.)

To the OP, I'm a total elitist nerd and basically raped all of Survival mode within the first day or so. Good fun, but versus is where it's at.

I play on PC, feel free to add me on steam friends; If you go to steam community and type in "Sean O'Neill" - I should be there as "The Toy" with a picture of Daniel Day Lewis (for some reason).

I'm well up for some TF2/LFD pwning.

Aberdeen Music Clan?

Someone make it so.

I bought L4D (xbox 360) about 2 months ago and only took it out the wrapping the other week. Even then it was only for a quick half an hour to see what it was like.

I'll need to try and get into it, will need to get practising first though.

Actually I would probably thing the opposite on that - I got into L4D so much more when it came out instead of TF2 because I wasn't really that interested in an online shooter at the time, whereas I think I have outplayed L4D's longevity. I still like to play the occasional game of Versus now and again, but I usually spend more time trying to find a fucking non-lagging server than actually killing zombies or booming folk to shit.

I went back to Team Fortress Classic for a laugh last week and it was beyond a joke. Everyone just spams grenades before they die and the game is just a fucking mess. Thank GOD they took grenades out for TF2.

The TF2 updates are really nice and all, but I thought the Scout update was a bit meh - I got quite excited about the Sandman, until I played a 24/7 Dustbowl server against 9 scouts spamming the bloody thing. No wonder it is banned from all pro tournaments. Plus, it really isn't worth sacrificing the double jump for, especially on maps like ctf_turbine and well

The Medic, Pyro and Heavy updates were absolutely spot on though - the Medic's Blutsauger and Ubersaw kick arse, Backburner is OK but mainly noobs use it cause they can't compression blast for shit, and the Sandvich...

'Nuff said.

(Yeah, I think 2 people on this forum play TF2 so apologies if you don't have a clue what i'm on about.)

I think I've managed a grand total of 8 minutes on survival, at which point I was alive more through lucky panicked fleeing rather than any form of skill.

I switch between bouts of TF2 and Left 4 Dead every other week. Both are fantastic games.

I thought the scout stuff was decent, the Force-A-Nature is handy on some levels and handles quite intuitively.

Bonk juice? Meh... Good for running past sentries on 2Fort I guess.

I guess I couldn't really get used to the FAN because I like to jump around a lot trying to flank enemies rather than running about trying to shoot them on the ground - if you shoot with the FAN in the air then you get knocked back which I found a bit annoying.

I can see it being useful if you have the Sandman equipped though.

As for Bonk!, it does have its uses, but it isn't worth ditching your pistol for - you need a weapon that can do decent mid-range damage.

I'm on steam as 'ronaldofaldo'. Add me if you like, though I do have two solid team mates that I always play with... the other position is almost always open.

I'm definitely best on campaigns. I've barely played vs. but really need to get into it. I'm really enjoying survival mode and it appears that the server issues have been resolved (yay!). Managed to get a Gold on Last Stand and am working my way through the rest.

I only started playing a couple of months ago so I'm a bit behind most but I'm working through the campaigns on expert so I can't be that shit (it's either that or my team is overly awesome to compensate ).

I'll geez a game at some point - didn't realise you were on Steam. For some reason I thought you were playing L4D on the 360.
