Default ANOTHER question.... good wireless router???? - 05-03-2008, 09:39

Yes, yet another question?

What is a decent wireless router to get for my internet connection?

It's about time I got rid of these wires!

And are you better to get an internal wireless card or just the usb stick ones?

Don't get a Belkin. That's all I can say about the router.

I'd say go internal every time though. Why waste a USB port that could be used for something else?

Cool, I was looking at a linkSys router and card, i've set up a few of them for people before, but it was stuff they'd already bought.

Other people have mentioned 3COM or Netgear ones being good.

I'll have a trawl around.

I bought a netgear once, couldnt fathom how to get it working, so just got the Bthomehub, easy peasy stuff

I also tried getting someones Wii to pick up a wireless signal form another netgear, I spent a good 45 minutes entering codes and checking error codes on the nintnedo site and trying the solution but the blasted thing still wouldnt work, despite my Bthomehub picking up both the Wii and xbox 360 and the PC

highly recommended although it requires u to switch providers

Netgear is such a hassle to set up that by the time you get it working, you'll never want to use the internet again.

Saying that, I've still got it...and I'm on the internet now, which pretty much makes this a pointless contribution.

Don't get a Netgear.

I had a netgear, I think, which was also a massive pain in the arse to get working. At least, for the computing student I had to get to set it up for me.

Yeah, I was trying to sort out problems with the girlfriends netgear in her flat at the weekend. They are a shambles.

I think i'm gonna go with the linksys. Has always been straightforward to set up when i've helped other people before.

Mine's a D-Link router.....got it in PC world. Was cheaper than the Netgear equivalent. I use the router with a Belkin internal wi-fi PCI card.

Never had any problems with either.

I actually was given a netgear router for nothing at the weekend.

And picked up a wireless pci card.....

Dum, dum, dum.... it actually worked.

I was shocked and amazed.
