Sp2 is indeed installed. It made no difference.

I've just used the empty space that disk manager found to create another partition, so i've got 2 120Gb spaces.

That should keep me going, i'll just put all my documents etc on the second partition.

Next time you reinstall windows delete bolth partitions and create one large one, it is possible the manufacturers partitioned it with smaller ones so that it is compatible with pre sp2 xp and other older os's
