Still showing as 120 odd Gb.

Updated my BIOS too, but that has done nothing.

Driving me isane!

Hard Drive Capacity Problem - Help! - TechSpot Troubleshooting

Found that article about 48-Bit LBA..... and windows XP service packs.

I'm stumped.

Um, that is not a 500 gig drive. Look at what is detected by the bios at boot time, because you appear to have a 250 gig drive.

Yeah sorry, I put a 250 in to try it earlier.

Same thing as was happening with the 500 though.

In the BIOS it comes up fine as 250Gb, it's just when windows loads it reverts to 127Gb.

I'm formatting the unallocated space that is on the disc and putting a new partition in........

Read my post again...boot with an NTFS boot disk (perhaps the windows recovery console has diskpart?)....you can't extend a boot volume when it's live!!

can you post a fullscreen one, it may be more helpful

Put the hdd in as a slave hdd then use diskmgr.msc to format/merge the partitions

Is it xp home or pro?
