"Surely the hardest thing you've ever done is wash a sieve". . . Best line in a song ever!

Dno't know much about the band, but got a free ticket from my cuz. Found some of their stuff hilarious.

Yeah they were really good again, fair old crowd in. I only own their first few albums, I prefer the ramshackle style more than the slightly more technically proficient later stuff, although everything is worth a listen for the lyrics. 'Back in the DHSS' is essential, as is 'Back Again in the DHSS' (ACD if buying on CD). Lots of songs from these were played last night.

Haven't heard the latest album but when I saw the song titles that alone amused me - 'Bad Losers On Yahoo Chess' and 'Took Problem Chimp To Ideal Home Show' being the 2 standouts. It was also good to hear 'Running Order Squabble Fest' live, always makes me think of some of the arguments that go on on this forum….

The support band The Pulse were quite good to begin with but went on a bit long. The Doors cover was a bit misjudged as well I thought, their own material was strong enough if a bit samey.

Vatican Broadside

The singer out of Slipknot went to Rome to see the Pope,
The singer out of Slipknot went to Rome to see the Pope,
The singer out of Slipknot went to Rome to see the Pope,
And the Pope said to his Aide -
"Who the f**king hell are Slipknot?,
Who the f**king hell are Slipknot?,
Who the f**king hell are Slipknot?,
In relation to me getting out of bed"

Running Order Squabblefest

Half past four? Half past four?
You said half past ten to us
No dry ice? No dry ice?
Hey Jason, they’ve got no dry ice
There is no way on earth
They should be on after us
Five k? Five k?
They can’t even play their instruments
Listen squire, who d’you think
Sold this thing out anyway?
Them lot there? Them lot there?
They haven’t even got an album out
Sound man, sound man
We’ve got our own sound man
CND? CND?
We’re not going on after Chas’n'Dave
I don’t care, I don’t care
Hello boys, there’s a change of plan
You’re going on after Crispy Ambulance
You’re going on after Crispy Ambulance
You’re going on after Crispy Ambulance
You’re going on after Crispy Ambulance

Or Chigley even...

Enjoyed it last night - always an entertaining band. Nice to know there were some Forres Mechanics fans in the audience.
