The JIM JONES REVUE are currently touring with Chuck Berry around the UK before heading out on a massive European tour.
Simply one of the best rock 'n' roll bands around today!

Classic Rock Album review....
Former Hypnotic gives rock its roll back.

The ear-searing, over-cranked sonic savagery of The Jim Jones Revue makes for a breathless listening experience. Easily as visceral and desperate as anything previously committed to tape, this extraordinary debut immediately replicates a brink-dwelling Jerry Lee crescendo, and clings on to its roaring mayhem for 30 exhausting minutes while tilting so far into the red that it almost hurts.
Surging ever higher, urging their irretrievably damned souls towards a bug-eyed, finger-blistering, feral meltdown, former Thee Hypnotics/Black Moses soul-flayer Jim Jones's 10-legged beast offers no quarter. From the tarmac-tearing wheel-spin of Princess &
The Frog, through the speaker-splintering sprint of Rock N Roll Psychosis, to the exhaust-fume blues of Cement Mixer, this is rock's tired old jalopy stripped drag-race lean and thrashed until it chokes. Streaking past the comparatively limping latter-day
legacies of the MC5, Dolls and Pistols, The JJR positively redefine raw, untamed, born-with-a-tail rock'n'roll.

The Twelves hail from Brazil, and have done remixes for the likes of Black Kids, M.I.A, Daft Punk, Kissy Sell Out, Asobi Seksu. Erlend Oye, LA Roux have set the blogging world alight.

This stream of good tracks soon caught the attention of a number of labels, including Modular Records (home of Cut Copy, Klaxons and others) who commissioned a remix of the song "Get Lucky" by New Young Pony Club. The resulting remix was released alongside reworkings from household names like MSTRKRFT and Who Made Who, and received excellent reviews.

These tracks led to appearances in festivals and concerts alongside names like Justice, Diplo, LCD Soundsystem, She Wants Revenge, Van She, Phoenix, Groove Armada, etc. Their live show is a unique blend of live keyboards, drum machines, mash-ups and remixing on the fly. A key element for the duo is trying to improvise as much as possible.

Local legend makes a welcome return. Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist, Drummer & Producer Davy Cattanach has been a local legend of the Aberdeen music scene for over 30 years.

Starting out in the late 1970's drumming with The Squibs through 1980’s with The 30 Footers and Mojo Pep and the Old Blind Dogs in the 90’s Davy continues in the noughties with The Pictones as well as writing and performing his own eclectic selection of song-writing material drawn from musical experiences at home and abroad. Davy has also written music for theatre productions and Played drums and percussion on many albums, including: Bachue, Annie Grace, Sharon Hassan, Jonny Hardie, Gavin Marwick & Findlay Napier.

GAORSACH RAPPER AND STEP

The Northumbrian rapper sword dance is traditional to Northumberland and County Durham in England. The dance was originally performed by miners in the pit villages of Tyneside and has gradually spread with revival groups worldwide. It is performed at speed by a team of five people continuously linked by flexible swords called rappers, which are weaved in and out of figures for display. It is a fairly recent tradition which has evolved over less than two hundred years from a much older hilt-and-point sword dance tradition found all over Europe.
FRIDAY 27TH NOV @ SNAFU

LET IT BLEED presents another night of dance floor delirium...

Brodinski is the most exciting DJ and producer to explode onto the scene in recent years. His taste in music is broad and this is reflected in his own productions and DJ sets which encompass electro, bass heavy house, funk and minimal.

Big hitter fans of his music include everyone from Soulwax, Tiga, Annie Mac, Erol Alkan, A Trak, Busy P, Switch, Laurent Garnier and Boys Noize

He's also remixed Bonde de Role, Klaxons, Das Pop, Shoes, D.I.M, Adam Sky and DJ Mehdi. Each remix has had a different approach, from the acidic (D.I.M), to vocal techno (Das Pop) to melancholic end-of-nighters (Klaxons). Every track is a grade A winner.

More recently tracks with Noob, Mumdance & Crookers... and his brilliant BUGGED OUT presents SUCK MY DECK album has sent him into dj superstardom.

Snafu presents

Running every Tuesday like clockwork, the Snafu Comedy Club has managed to carve itself a wee niche in the ever-busy weekday-things-to-do-that-aren’t-clubbing market, which before it came along primarily consisted of going to the cinema, going bowling, or getting tanked on top of the St Nicholas centre. All of which are great in their own right, but lets face it, there’s only so many films to see, only so many strikes to hit and only so many times you can get blind drunk outside WH Smith and wake up at 3 in the morning with your house keys missing and half your eye-brow shaved off (true story).

Fortunately, there is a never ending supply of funny people. Every week the organisers of the snafu comedy club trawl the national comedy circuit to find those funny people, lures them up north and then watches as a group of punters split their side in the ONLY weekly comedy club in Aberdeen. With a constantly rotating line-up that reads like a whos-who of local and national talent, it’s easy to see why the club has received universally great write-ups and near-constant capacity crowds.

Ok, so It sounds good – but surely a comedy night with big names must break the bank? Nah pal. It’s £4 EVERY week, regardless of whether they’re a national sell-out act or a local guy trying to supplement his dole cheque. To make it even sweeter, students get in for £2. £2! What night-out can you think of that gives you a whole evenings banter for just £2? I mean for that you can only catch 1/3 of a film, play just half a game of bowling and afford just half a bottle of cider – probably for the best, that one though. Nobody wants to lose an eyebrow…
Breanndán Begley, Kevin Henderson & Tim Edey + Finfolk
The Blue Lamp
Thursday 26th November
£7 from 8pm

Aberdeen traditional music fans are in for a very special treat as three of the most significant musicians in Celtic music visit The Blue Lamp as part of a one-off tour on their way to perform a couple of shows in Shetland.

Multi-instrumentalist Tim Edey will be joined by Shetland's Kevin Henderson on fiddle and on accordion/vocals by Breanndán Begley from County Kerry.

A virtuoso on no fewer than 10 instruments Tim Edey, guitarist in the Sharon Shannon and Michael McGoldrick bands, is regarded by many to be one of the finest traditional Celtic music players of his generation. In high demand for his technical ability, charisma and improvisational quality Tim truly is a must see musician performing with a dazzling proficiency and mind-boggling feel.

Born out of Shetland's rich and vibrant fiddle tradition Kevin Henderson is one of Shetland’s most prominent players, and will be sacrificing a potential celebration at the Scots Tradtional Music Awards 2009 to play these shows. He has been nominated in two categories: 'Best Live Act' for performing with the Scottish 'supergroup' Session A9 and 'Album of the Year' for Shetland's Fiddlers' Bid who he co-founded in 1994.

Kevin also plays professionally across Europe and the USA with folk legends Boy of the Lough, in which he replaced the fiddle legend Aly Bain.

To complete this exceptional line-up Tim and Kevin will be joined by Breanndán Begley, a native of County Kerry, who has been playing button accordion in Boys of the Lough since 1980. Breanndán is famous nourishing and maddening accordion playing, singing in his native Irish and as TV presenter of traditional music on Irish language channel TG4, he is a firm favourite with audiences and musicians alike.

Support comes from Aberdeen's own Finfolk who mix the Celtic music influences of Ireland, the Scottish Borders and Hungary. Featuring Tom Roche (button-accordion), Kenn Clark (guitar/vocals) and Jani Lang (fiddle) the music they produce knows no boundaries with a strong emphasis on self-penned tunes and improvisation.

GLOBAL XCHANGE VOLUNTEERS RAISE FUNDS TO HELP
PHILIPPINE FLOOD VICTIMS

On Sunday 22 November an international music and dance event will take place at Transition Extreme, Aberdeen to raise funds for the recent Philippine typhoon disaster (doors open at 7.30pm for an 8.00pm start).
The event, themed in the style of 1960s Greenwich Village Café Wha where many great names such as Bob Dylan and Paul Simon made their professional debuts, is organised by a team of Global Xchange volunteers from the UK and Tanzania who have joined forces with their host, Aberdeen Foyer to raise money for much needed essentials such as food, shelter, clothing and cooking equipment for the victims of the natural disaster.
Mrs Roda Bird, a prominent member of the Aberdeen Philippine community, has already visited the stricken area and comments, “It is great to see young people from all over the world working so hard and selflessly to stage this event for the benefit of people in such great need of help.”
The volunteers working at Aberdeen Foyer and Transition Extreme, along with representatives of Foyer Music, have organised various performance artists to take part in the event including traditional Indian dancers, community drumming group Gurana, rock groups The Frozen North and Chaos Theory as well as a Philippine dance group, several solo performances and musicians taking part in Global Xchange.
Global Xchange is a cross-cultural programme, managed in partnership by the British Council and VSO, which provides opportunities for young people to volunteer in the community and promotes global citizenship. In Aberdeen, Global Xchange is funded by the Wood Family Trust and delivered by Aberdeen Foyer. The 3 year programme involves volunteers from Tanzania and the UK.
Tickets for the event priced at £3.50 for under 18s and £5 for over 18s with a complimentary soft drink can be purchased on the door or in advance by contacting Charlotte Elliss on 07814516070.
Members of the public wishing to make a donation towards the national disaster fund can do so by visiting GlobalGiving UK: donate to grassroot charity projects from around the world
