Default The next couple of weeks @ Dr Drakes!

MON 1ST - THE DEAD PETS, MISLED YOUTH & GILMAN STREET...8PM...£4
The Dead Pets sound to the un-initiated is as modern old school punk rock
with a Ska tinge. All the aggression of Agnostic Front, all the charm of the
Mighty Mighty Bosstone's and all the fun of the Dropkick Murphy's. The
seven-musician line up (including two bassists?) creates a solid yet clean
sound. They're scruffy, tasteless, rude, offensive, aggressive and instantly
likeable. The whole band ooze charisma, and they possess one vital strength
that you rarely see with commercial punk bands... they all look like they
are having a great time. And this creates a great atmosphere in a small
venue!! www.thedeadpets.co.uk

TUES 2ND - ACOUSTIC OPEN MIC hosted by STEVE CRAWFORD...8PM...FREE

WED 3RD - PARAVION, FOIL, DEDALUS & JAILBIRD LIME...8PM...£3.50
FOIL - Fine Edinburgh band, signed to 13th Hour records, who have already
released an album and several eps. Some say Arab Strap, some say Idlewild.
PARAVION - Discordant yet progressive, these hell worshipers are tour
support to Foil around Scotland. Think June of 44, laden with depth and
fantastic guitar sounds. DEDALUS - Think Joy Division angles, tinged with
Interpol, and The Smiths melodies, while being compromised by God Speed You
& JAILBIRD LIME - He listens to an unhealthy amount of Bright Eyes, Flaming
Lips and The Microphones. Acoustic and shows excellence.

THURS 4th - PSYCHOTIC KANDY presents WONDERBOY, OLIX & support...8PM...£3
the first of 2 Psychotic Kandy shows this month, tonight showcasing a few
different flavours of local talent

FRI 5TH - SENSATIONAL OPEN MIC!!....8-3AM, FREE ENTRY
you lucky lucky people, open mic twice in one week, yippee! tonight's
special event will also be joint hosted by Ziggy Fantastic & Steve Crawford.
raw talent-raw fun-enter at own risk! all welcome!

SAT 6TH - CAYTO, THE BEARD & MARCY'S MONSTER PARADE...8PM...£3.50
Cayto have been described before as sounding like 'an octupus being put
through a washing machine', they describe themselves as 'experimental
rockin' telefunkin magic-jazz poonk' - make what you will of that, we just
think they're great! www.cayto.com support comes from post rockers MMP and
new female fronted indie rockers The Beard

SUN 7TH - stbc

MON 8TH - INTERESTING MUSIC present SCHNEIDER TM, CHRIST & SCIENTIFIC
SUPPORT DEPT....8PM....£5
Over the past three years, Schneider TM has remixed in inimitable style the
likes of Lambchop, Labradford, High Llamas, Quarks and Ruby among others. A
noise-record with Pansonic's Ilpo Vaisanen is in the can and Norwegian
folkster Erlend Oye (Kings of Convenience) has asked him to collaborate on
his forthcoming solo project. It's time to blast preconceptions of
electronica as cold, minimal, distant knob twiddling to oblivion once and
for all, and Dirk Dresselhaus, aka Schneider TM, is just the man to do
it.check www.schneidertm.com for more details. support from Christ &
Scientific Support Dept www.scientificsupport.com

TUES 9TH - ACOUSTIC OPEN MIC hosted by ZIGGY FANTASTIC, 8PM, FREE

WED 10TH - CLOSER, BOSS STAR & SUPPORT...8PM...£3.50
Adorno Records' CLOSER have gone from strength to strength in the last
year - performances at (amongst others): gig on the green (2001 + 2002),
king tuts (with nada surf, sparta, cooper temple clause etc.), and radio
one's snowbombing have helped establish a good live following. their popcore
sound (think weezer meets ...trail of dead) sits well with the current
musical climate, ensuring regular airplay. BOSS STAR are a 4 piece power pop
band from Dundee who combine the melodic hooks of The Fountain of Wayne and
the soaring guitar work of Weezer.

THURS 11TH - GODNOSE, VOICE OF AGRESSION & JESUS ELEPHANT GOD...8PM...£4
powerful Aussie hardcore punk from Godnose, support from Jesus Elephant
God - Neurosis styled tribal hardcore from Dundee, and local blackened crust
metal from Voice of Agression www.godnose.live.com.au
www.jesuselephantgod.co.uk

FRI 12TH - PSYCHOTIC KANDY presents DATA THIEVES, SIDCA, DIRTY HOSPITAL &
SPIKE PILE DRIVER....8PM...£3
a very special techno/noise/electronica edition of Psychotic Kandy tonight.
electronica from Dirty Hospital featuring 2 ex members of Bis, techno from
Data Thieves, and emm, 'noise' supplied by Sidca & Spike Pile Driver! bring
yer own earplugs!

SAT 13TH - FUDGE FRENZY featuring HEXAGONAL PENSIONERS, MY MINDS WEAPON &
THE GLORIA FLAW...8PM...£3
usual Fudge shenanigans with live bands, top dj'ing and drinking! best band
of the night goes on to headline a Fudgenight in the near future so come
along and support your favourites!

SUN 14TH - FLOODSTAIN & SUPPORT
Floodstain are from Norway and with their influences being Nebula, Fu
Manchu, QOTSA, Kyuss, Led Zepplin, Deep Purple to name a few you can maybe
see whay they have been labeled as being a 'stoner-rock' band! check out
their website for rockin' mp3's http://www.weijand.nl/~floodstain/

thats all for now...the final instalment of the year coming soon..

Regards,
The Doctor.
