As quiet as I am I personally think that the thread regarding that band who pissed and hit on that fit bird should not of been locked.

I have seen Rune getting on his high horse in the past and Mods have actively taken part in the debate (Frosty Jack). As always, Dave stops it dead. Poor show, it was the first thread that I really enjoyed in a long time. Offensive? Well apart from keeping a few people in tow, it was actually quite restraint.

Im not trying to play Mods off against each other, just an observation.

I was the only mod on duty at the time. Neil had already warned everyone that the thread should get back on topic and to stop all the infantile nonsense, and yet certain people carried on regardless. When a thread's gone bad like that, the only option is to lock it. I'm pretty sure the other guys on staff would have done the same in my position.

What you don't realise is that there were a number of posts on that thread that had already been deleted, and the way the discussion was going was contributing to a a bad atmosphere and was not in keeping with the ethos of the site. If people want to abuse each other and act their shoe size and not their age, find some another site to do it on. I'm in this job to keep aberdeen-music.com an important resource for musicians and music lovers, not to play nanny to a bunch of bored shit-stirrers.

None of us ever lock threads on a whim. It's even more serious when a member has been so out of order that his or her behaviour warrants a ban. That's what happened in the thread in question, and as I said earlier further action was taken against certain members who posted on the thread. It's not a part of the job I particularly enjoy, but it's necessary to maintain the reputation of this site as a friendly, open community.

was Ben banned for the stuff he said in the Bring Me The Horizon Wee Wee thread? cos none of it seemed all THAT offensive.

Ive still never been banned. I must be doing something right/wrong.

The thread was entertaining, and although it went off topic a bit, It probably would have gone back on track as soon as more news about the Bring Me The Horizon episode came to light.

Got to agree, first 'healthy discussion' or reasonably exciting thread in a while.

i agree, it really shouldn't have been closed. the idiots arguing should have been temporarily banned so the thread could get back on track.

if a new thread was made, would that also be closed?
