galleries

a thread on the SOM forums reminded me that I don't use the galleries anymore and that they are not the source of entertainment they used to be, I think having (at least) the 4 latest or random pictures on the "Forums" page would be good. In my opinion it should just replace the Event Flyers space.

I disagree. Displaying the flyers for gigs and local events is more important and relevant for this web site than displaying people's latest photos which could be of anything.

Any way you could display both? Like at the bottom next to the Wasteland link? So the event flyers would still be in more prominent place.

I could but I'm not going to do so. The more images you include the longer it takes to load and display the page. It's bad enough just now with just those 4 images.

Seirously, the other day I checked the comments from the last TEN days, and only TWO photos came up. The gallery needs to be re-invented or at least pimped a bit more. I also think you should clear out all the inactive users ones, 'cos there's a fair level of unused, ancient and crap pictures.

how about just scrap the galleries altogether and let people stick to bebo and myspace with that kind of crap.
