Whats up with this place lately?

I'll start by saying, Im not looking for an argument, nor a debate against me. I'm asking a valid question, and I'd like to see some valid answers.

I dunno if it's just me, but I've noticed a lot of people seem to have a broom wedged up their ass lately. People who expect to be entertained to the highest degree. If someone posts a thread that another member has seen in an E-mail.. Why cant they just ignore it? Instead of letting others know that they have seen it.

Really, it's a bit of cheap comedy that affects no-one, or shouldn't affect no-one. I suppose I dont really understand why people are just being downright rude. OK, Im pretty rude at the best of times, but I can take a joke/slagging for posting something that I haven't found in the search function anyday.. and I will again.. but that's not what bothers me.

I've been a member for a few years now, and it's like the emotion of this place hangs by a thread lately (literally). You can't make a post without some smart-ass trying to act 'The boi' in front of others.. You can't post comedy, just incase someone has seen it before. You cant express yourself, unless your attached to some sort of clichic section of art or music. And the worst part is.. NO-ONE speaks up anymore. Your all scared you'll be branded weird. It's like a regime for the emo.

Let your hair down, if you see a cc thread.. alert an Admin, or the person.. I don't get the mental capacity of someone who replies to a cc thread and destroys it for others because they have seen it before.

I mean, Im not a regular Joe online, I'm maybe behind the times when it comes to spam emails. Christ, most of the jokes I get are from other forums with heaps of replies commending a funny Joke.. all I'm trying to do to share that, not as if Im shitting in your mouth.. which is the reaction I feel some things get here.

Most of all, have fun, be yourself, and never be scared to voice your opinion - no matter how many others disagree with it .. And for the love of Satan, just relax.

I'm only posting this because you got mad at me for telling you that your last thread was shit and I have a feeling I might be the person you just mentioned in your post.

And for your information, no-one is trying to be "The boi" or "boy" as it's more commonly known, they just don't think some shite forward is any good. Maybe look up some joke sites, post your favourites and we'll score them. Happy now?

Bux, although you make some valid points, I don't think you're doing your case much good by constantly criticising the mentality of the members of this site. The Wasteland is a discussion forum, and all the most successful threads on there involve a high level of debate and interaction between members. By posting up material that isn't likely to provoke discussion you'll probably find that the vast majority of users will either ignore it or view without comment. There is always the risk, though (and this has been the case for as long as I can remember) that people will make their views on the thread known, as is their right, and more often than not these comments will be negative.

This site's main raison d'etre is providing information and a forum for discussion and debate about Aberdeen's music scene. That's why the majority of members are here. Sure, people will occasionally want to chat about something else, which is why the Wasteland exists. There are thousands of other sites on the net that cater for joke threads and funny stories far, far better than we do. People tend to go to them if they're looking for that kind of material. To post such stuff on a discussion forum seems a bit pointless in this day and age.

Exactly how i feel sometimes....Ive also seen the odd post on other forums going onto like 5 pages with comments saying such and such was funny/informative/damn wrong..Then share it on this website and get the "STFU thats a spamm email" and every other really intelectual sort of comment...

I think theres so many youngsters on this board these days and pumped with Testosterone if it aint the far east or porn they dont wanna know...
