There are no bands on the run but there is plenty of live music on the move at a feature-packed festival in the Mearns Royal Burgh of Inverbervie on the 3rd and 4th of May.

This year's "Yellow's on the Broom" International Festival at Sillyflatt Barn is importing Helldorado, featuring the most electrifying psychobilly from Stavanger and ferrying over the Timo Gross Band, playing the finest R&B from Heidelberg.

Skanking over from Glasgow are reggae rebels Man at the Window and strutting in from Edinburgh are blues-rock guitareros Stevey Hay and the RayVons.

To see and hear from Korea is performance artist Moon Suk and her Opera Operation Orchestra and clattering down the railway track from "The Broch" come the incomparable Deviltrain.

The Mossy River Rock Band is steaming up the psychadelic swamps and boogie deltas of the Clyde with Robin Miller, one of Scotland's finest finger-picking guitarists, at the helm.

Revved up and ready to go are local heroes: The Residents and crossing The Borders of folk-funk fusion come indie upstarts Katie and the Dull Fudds.

Crossing the time barrier come the Jacobean thrillers The Trybe and guaranteeing genuine ethnicity are Guinean malinke rythm ensemble Sodeya and Japanese Taiko drummers.

Arriving by magic in the early evening is children's favourite Harry Mudini and guitar genius Gerry Jablonski will defy gravity and levitate. Later evening side stage acts have all manner of musical surprises only to be revealed on the night.

The Festival is being held for the ninth consecutive year at Sillyflatt Farm, situated one mile south of Inverbervie near the junction to Gourdon and may be accessed directly from the A92 Stonehaven to Montrose "Coast Road".

On each evening the music starts at 7.30PM. Genuine 'Biergarten' tables and benches provide rest between dance flings and seating to appreciate the earlier acts as well as the paintings and other artefacts on display and for sale.

Those with a fun outlook might like to get dressed up and win a prize from the compere, German TV and radio star, Stefan Reusch. Original costumes representing a Yellow's on the Broom Festival theme are invited - the Mossy River Rock Band will be there to salute the green and furry ones for example.

Refreshments will be available in the spacious bar in one of the barn's stone-arched alcoves to the main floor area. High standard, professional outdoor catering has been organised to serve everything from haggis, neeps, tatties and stovies to German Bratwurst and French pancakes, with soups, coffee and tea and a non-alcoholic cocktail bar also available.

Music, Dance, Craft and Conjuring tuition workshops are on offer for adults and children during the Saturday and Sunday afternoons at the nearby Mill of Benholm. See the festival website for further workshop information and booking details.

As well as the workshops, this year's "Fringe Events" include a road tour by Timo Gross Band and an exhibition by Norwegian artist Ingeborg Kvame.

Timo, Frovin and Michael are on the road after guesting at sea on the Zeebrugge-Rosyth ferry, their tour taking in Edinburgh, Montrose, Inverbervie, Gourdon, Stonehaven and Aberdeen (10 May 20:00 Blue Lamp). Meanwhile, Ingeborg will be present at her exhibition opening in "The Creel Inn", Catterline, on May 1st. presenting some of her inspirational works whilst in residence in Catterline's "Watch House" studio.

Tickets are still on sale in Inverbervie, Gourdon, Stonehaven, Johnshaven, Catterline, St. Cyrus, Montrose and Aberdeen (1-UP) at £15.00 for one evening or £28.00 for two evenings; accompanied children up to 11 years at half price.

The organisers recommend buying (or reserving) tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
