HUBL Acoustic Gig - Red Shoes 14th June - Talent required!
Highland Ultimate Band List (HUBL), the Moray based music website is teaming
up with Red Shoes Theatre Company in Elgin for an acoustic showcase on
Saturday the 14th June. HUBL the free online resource for use by the music
fans and musicians of Moray and the Highlands was created by Chris Thornton
of Colourjam in 2003. The interactive website includes Band Profiles, Gig
Listings, MP3 Chart, Forum and Reviews. HUBL is designed to support and
promote the music community and has organised gigs and also released the
HUBL CD to showcase the talent in the area.
At present HUBL has 166 members and features a very diverse range of
artists. This is reflected in the top 3 of March's MP3 chart, which was
topped by cosmic sonic groove merchants The Phoenix Band with "Your build
like a car oh yeah" followed by rock/metal band Mind Gone Blind and the
experimental soundscapes of Achenar.
This is the first HUBL event of 2008 and they are looking for solo
performers and bands with original material to fill the night. Any artist
interested should email a MP3, biography and contact details to
email@hubl.co.uk. Closing date for entries is April 30th and the line up
will be announced shortly after.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a great wee venue, which reeks of
musical history including legendary performances by The Beatles, The Who,
The Pink Floyd and Cream. Since reopening The Red Shoes Theatre Company has
brought a much needed live venue to Elgin and as well as theatre and gigs
has recently started acoustic evenings every Friday 5pm til 7pm at their Cafe Rouge.
