Totally, i was meaning a non-experienced person with a degree against a non-experienced person without a degree. Of course an experienced person within a particular field will obviously get it over someone who just happens to have a degree.

Having a degree does show that someone is willing to put the time and effort into something generally though and going to University is a life experience as well, something that you wouldn't get by not going. It would also be fair to assume that someone who's got a degree would be more mature than someone fresh out of school.
