Consumer law says that any item should be 'fit for purpose' for a period of six years (it may be five in Scotland). So regardless of whether you can find warranty documents, if you can prove you purchased it in the last five years then they're still legally obliged to have it repaired (unless you have damaged it through fault of your own).

If you decide to go this route I will find the exact law for you to quote.
