for tutorial i heartily recommend basic photography and advanced photographer by michael langford. pretty much the standard textbook for anyone on a photography course. you can pick them up for reasonable prices on ebay. then once you've learn the basics and know what style you prefer you can find endless books on portraits, landscape, reportage and any other type of photography you can think of which will give more specialist tutorials. niall benvie does a great landscape book called creative landscape photography.
