"In an unprecedented move, Setanta Sports and Aberdeen Football Club have joined forces to ensure that this week's crunch UEFA Cup tie against Bayern Munich in Germany will be broadcast live, ensuring that the thousands of fans unable to make the journey to Munich will not miss a minute of the action.
Pittodrie Managing Director Duncan Fraser commented, "At the close of business last night, it really looked dead in the water as far as television coverage is concerned. However, we made one last effort and I'm delighted that Bayern, thanks to the personal intervention of Uli Hoeness, who is well aware of the importance of the game to our supporters and who was delighted with the way Bayern were treated in Scotland last week, reduced their fee to a level whereby, with a not insubstantial financial contribution from ourselves, Setanta were in a position where they felt, from a public broadcasting perspective, it was important to show it. This is the Dons most important match for many years and we are delighted that an agreement has now been reached whereby everyone who wants to see the game should be able to do so."
