Opium was a last minute booking just so they didnt lose out on the money they had paid for everythin else...

Tell me more about Opium?

Im tryin to concentrate more on Glasgow but to be honest i am struggling to get promoters an venues to take me on as im sure they must get loads demos all the time. I have had loads for Celler 35 an i just posted on here! To be honest i totally lost track of people emailing me so hopefully i hear back...whoops...

I figured that if i can get bands from all over scotland to play Celler 35 i could maybe arrange some gig swaps...

Well thats the plan!

Stuart, can you think of anywhere in Edinburgh that Gerry Jablonski would go down well?

Cheers

what is it that you actually do?

gerry would prob be best in bannermans or whistlebinkies unfortunately. he is the kind of guy who can entertain a walk in punter who is not really that fussed about what type of music they listen to, clientele of both venues are in this category (think drummonds at the weekend type crowd). problem is with both venues is that they dont really care much for what they put on, they dont promote and they dont look after acts and most people fuck off after their mates due to gigs being ran late (to get more money in at the bar)

if you want my opinion, i would speak to this rockaustin dude and ask him to book a venue and put gerry on, its a gig for his band in edinburgh and a gig for gerry. then you offer him a gig in the cellar in abdn in return. then it means that gerry can be looked after, play in front of a crowd and vice versa in aberdeen. its the best way to do things and its on your terms as opposed to some venue looking to make a quick buck easily. it also means gerry can return to edinburgh for another promoter having already played to a large amount of people who enjoyed him the first time round, meaning people might be there to see him/buy his stuff etc

(in a perfect world)

as for opium, its a terrible shape, its a stodgy metal club with bad sound (due to shape), again they dont really look after bands and are disposed of pretty quickly for a clubnight. payment is usually non existant too, regardless of what they tell you. also, make sure you a) have full backline with you or b) you have clairfied with the other bands who are playing with what gear you can use. opium will most definetly not sort any of that for you (again, regardless of what they say)
