TV: (when i have one)
BBC News 24 (good if you can sit through the nonsense, often i can't)
Al Jazeera (good at covering stories that get overlooked by the bbc because they are too busy reporting about kids who have been shot and the terrors of the violent murderous youth of today.)
web:
Fark (it's not news, its fark.com)
BBC
Slashdot (geek news)
Socialist Worker (usually have sensible stories. eg. while the rest of the british media was throwing a spaz about how terrible young people are etc after that kid got shot the SW front page story was "If young people aren’t valued, why would they value others?")
Newspapers:
Independent
Observer/Guardian
(whichever i spot first/can be bothered picking up)
Journals/Magazines:
Nature (free access through uni!)
NewScientist
some others, but mostly computer science related research things, not so much "news" in the general sense.
