Haven't you guys seen people doing live sets with ableton, playing synth riffs, capturing them in realtime then processing these "live" loops with effects controlled by midi controllers, building up layers etc, there are loads and loads of possibilities for frantic and engaging live perfomances.
Nobody can say Orbital, for example, were a shit live act, now the tools available are a lot more powerful, a lot more flexible and have a hell of a lot to offer bands today which sit somewhere between the traditional and the entirely digital.
All that's holding back the adoption of this stuff is ignorance and dogma.
