I reckon it depends how much the material relies on the processing you're doing in the studio to retain it's character, it would be a shame if you replaced really nicely processed sequenced drums with a dreary rock drum kit just for the sake of having a drummer on stage.
I don't think there's anything to be ashamed of in using sequenced parts in a live context, when that is a huge part of your material - miming in a live setting is just insulting the audiences intelligence. Would you really want to compromise your own integrity by pretending there is no offline studio production involved in your tracks anyway?

Ableton in conjuction with a good midi controller could be a way to retain a live performance aspect in terms of things you can't compromise on and keep things sonically interesting without patronising the audience.
