The one thing i feel that the show was missing was a little bit of excitement. Think back to the days when the Spice Girls ruled. You we're never really quite sure what they'd come out with 'Who do you think you are?' was probably the epitome of classic Brit performance. Never in the 27 years of brit award ceremonies has there been a more iconic image than that of the union jack dress.
According to the Brit awards in just four years together they managed to make the outstanding contribution to music that has taken Oasis thirteen years. Their performance in the 2000 ceremony was the perfect way to end the show; this from a ceremony that this year didn't even have a best pop category - saying that I blame that fully on James Blunt making a mockery of it last year with his watered down drivel.
The Scissors injected a little bit of interest with their performance at the beginning, but even they didn't come close to their Jim Henson driven 'Take Your Mama' of years gone by. All in all it was just really quite dull.
You know, I would've settled just for Geri, her solo performance in 2000 where she appeared on stage from an inflated vagina and then proceeded to pole dance with some emasculated men in hot pants, was really what it is all about. In those 3 minutes she was more controversial that Russel Brand, Joss Stone, Slob Fratelli and Ringo Starr, sorry Liam Gallagher put together.
Girl Power and all that stuff!
