There are two high points to this incredibly underwhelming collaboration. Nadine blatantly out singing Keisha in every possible way and then tackling the immortal line "you ain't seen nothin' till you're down on a muffin." (which now takes on a whole new lesbionic feeling)
I accepted long ago that Girls Aloud will never better Biology. It is truly the best pop song of the last ten years, and although they came close with Something Kinda Oooh it was a little too dance orientated to be amazing.
What they should really have done was create a spectacular mash up of Biology vs. Push The Button with the girls literally fighting each other for the stage. However since this is our first vision of Girls Aloud without Xenomania (this track is apparently Dallas Austin's work) I hope it makes them realise that they need Brian, Miranda et all.
Failing that they could have released the actually spectacular mash up of Biology vs. You're Fit But You Know It by The Streets. If you've not heard it you really should attempt to track it down.
But if indeed they were to have to push through with their cover versions, then any of the following (so long as it was Xenomania prodcued) would obviously have worked better than walk this way (you've gotta talk this way).
Spagna - Call Me
ABC - Poison Arrow
Pat Benetar - Love Is A Battlefield
Dolly - 9 to 5 (although it could possibly verge on hen-night kareoke a la I Think We're Alone Now)
Baccara - Yes Sir, I Can Boogie (although it wouldn't compare to Sophie Ellis-Bextor or Goldfrapp's take on it)
Pet Shop Boys - It's A Sin or indeed What Have I Done To Deserve This?
Nine Inch Nails - Head Like A Hole
Gloria Estefan - Rhythm Is Gonna Get You
I'm still intrigued to hear Girls Aloud's version of Wicked Game. I think it'll surface at some point. It was rumoured to be the B-Side to this single so it might still See The Day no pun actuallly intended.
Wowsers.
