Hence the one event appears for two days in the calendar but it in fact the same, one event. I know this isn't very clear when adding the event and it's something I need to change in some way.

Ah yes, I see what you mean. This is becuase i had to mention that the event finished at midnight, which would be on the 24th. Perhaps you could alter it so that Midnight is featured on teh same day as the event aswell?
