MORTHANA For fans of: Polar Bear, Noxagt & Zu Featuring members of NOXAGT, JAGA JAZZIST & ULTRALYD, the band are in the UK by invitation of the London Jazz Festival.
The music of MORTHANA is a veritable international cocktail of noise and delight. It has the spiritual vitality of New York energy merged with the vivid forces of the creative arts network of Stavanger, Norway and the improv music scene of Amsterdam. This makes for an intense recipe, and this album is an extraordinary experience for all your senses. The trio has worked with Ben Street, Chris Lightcap, Clayton Thomas and Øyvind Storesund on bass, Nate Wooley and Eric Beyondo on trumpet and with Mp3 (Mike Pride, Trevor Dunn, Mary Halvorson) in Mp3 meets Andy D double-trio. Andrew D'Angelo is part for the downtown New York music scene and plays regularly with Jim Black and Hilmar Jensson in Tyft, and with the Matt Willson Quartet. Morten J. Olsen is active in the impro./contemporary music scene in Amsterdam. Part of the new movement called critical newism, the N collective, and plays with Thomas Dybdal. Anders S. Hana is based in Stavanger where he's involved in most of what's happening on the creative music scene there. He used to run Sting jazz-club and received the Maijazz prize of Norway for his work during the festival.
