Grin Free Music Industry Workshops

Saturday 9th April 12-5pm
Aberdeen Foyer. Marywell Street

100% FREE to everyone

12noon-1.30pm: Ice-breaking & warm-up sessions with Kerry & Sharron
Kerry Canning
(Impact Arts) - Open drumming session. No experience needed. Just a bit of fun with rhythm and lots of drums, bongos, etc!
Sharron (Drakes Productions) - DJ Lessons. Ever fancied a shot on the decks? Now’s your chance. Beginners very welcome!

2pm-4pm: Music industry seminar
Stewart Cruickshank - Senior producer of music at BBC Scotland and all round music bizz guru!
Ronnie Gurr - From NME journalist in the punk days, to government and SAC advisor, via A&R manager for the stereophonics, Kula Shaker, Boy George, Danny Wilson, Jimmy Nail and many more.
Adam Arnit - Used to run the music courses in Edinburgh but now runs an indie label and manages the scottish guitar quartet. If there's anything you want to know about contemporary music courses in the UK, this is the man to ask.
Rik Smernicki - Scottish A&R manager for Polydor Records, responsible for the success of Snow Patrol and now seeking new talent for new Polydor label.

4-5pm: Informal discussion
This is your chance to quiz the panel over a cuppa and a biscuit, ask them any questions that you felt were not covered earlier, or tell them why they should come to your next gig and check out your band!

Refreshments will be available free of charge all day

Then we all head up to the FREE ACOUSTIC SHOW at Kilau Coffee Company, where there's now 10 acts playing!
