Surely Ginger must have known that is the industry..... The Music Industry is exactly that... A Business.....
Wildhearts were dropped by East West for not selling units in a time when Rock n Roll debauchery came from the Gallaghers, not from Galasheilds.
It always happens.....
The Wildhearts were the big new thing and then got chafted by the major label.
It has happened to almost every band in recent times.
Hence if he has only realised this now then I too would call him very niave.
Weren't the Little Angels in a bit of label bother when they split or am I getting confussed.
How many Hair Metal bands were dropped when Nirvana came along.
How many pseudo Grunge bands and hip hop acts were dropped when the chairman of Jive Recordings ( who released almost entirely hip hop... including Tribe Called Quest) wen to a New Kids On The Block gig and realised that the money was in banal manufactured junk with a decent team of writers. Some of the best ever pop tunes have been written by ugly bastards.
Second rate "Indie" bands dropped to make way for "nu-metal" / "emo" bands....
How many Emo bands dropped to make way for hair metal bands and rock n roll cliches.
How many rock n roll cliche bands dropped to make way for Indie bands....
Thus comming full circle...... and so on.....
It`s the fickle public that is quite often to blame......People are deffinately doing less to seek out new music and talent and I don`t mean people on here. This is a forum for MUSIC lovers in ABERDEEN so of course people on here will be interested in new music.
All of these swings and roundabouts have happened in rock music which is by nature retrograssive. The Dance market also has fads..... Funky house / DnB / Hard House / Electroclash / Techno / Electronica.......... they`ll all have their 6 month spell.... Infact the biggest club tune of the year is almost a complete rework of Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You.. One of the biggest club tracks of the past 6 / 7 years.
